How to Get the Smoky-Eyed Look

Where there's smoke, there's this fiery look that so many women try to achieve. We're talking about the smoky-eyed look that's apropos for just about any and every special occasion. While it may seem like an impossible feat if you're not a trained make-up artist, giving yourself smoky eyes is easier than it appears. Among the cosmetics you're going to need are a liquid concealer, an eyeliner pencil, a dark shadow and a light shadow. For the dark colors, black, gray, brown or dark green will all do the job. Get started by applying the concealer over the eyelid. This will create a smooth foundation for the eyeshadow. Then use an eyeliner to draw from the inner lashline to the outer lashline.

Use liner to dot between bottom lashes then smudge with an eyeliner brush or q-tip. Once you've done that, use the dark shadow of your choice over the lid and into the crease. Blend color up and outward. Use a lighter, neutral shadow such as a white or ivory on the browbone. Use an eyelash curler to give lashes an upward lift. Hold the lashes for at least a minute then apply mascara. Finish off the look with two layers of black mascara. Use an eyelash curler to give lashes an upward lift. One faux pas that women often make is bringing the liner out too far. This is a major no-no as it makes for a dramatic look. Although you can don the smoky-eyed look whenever you want, most women prefer to wait until night to get this fiery look.
