Your weight loss progress has stalled out. You're sick of doing the same workout over and over, so you're lacking the motivation to get moving. There is trouble ahead unless you add some variety to your exercise regimen. {relatedarticles}After all, variety is the spice of life. Doing the same thing over and over in your workout is a two-fold problem. For starters, it leads to exercise boredom. Imagine if all you ever did was walk on the treadmill 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. It's only a matter of time before you become burned out. When you get sick of your workout, you're more likely to lose motivation and to start skipping workouts, eventually throwing off your routine altogether. Another issue with not diversifying your workout is that the body gets used to the workout and you stop seeing results.
Maybe you're muscles aren't becoming more defined or perhaps your weight is stuck on auto-pilot. The good news is there are plenty of things you can do to prevent a workout rut. Mix up your exercise regimen so that you have both cardio and strength training. Try different exercises. {relatedarticles}Use different machines, even if it's as simple as making the change from the treadmill to the elliptical. If you're a runner who prefers the great outdoors, change routes or at least change the direction in which you travel. Kick up the intensity by increasing resistance, reps, sets or whatever applies to your workout. Make the workout more challenging. Take up a new activity - whether it's Zumba, spinning, kickboxing, Pilates or something else. Surprise your body by trying something new. Not only will you feel the difference by mixing things up - so will your body.
