If you're a mom on the go, and your child has outgrown the diaper bag, then you may be stuck in "storage" limbo, without a place to put the various accessories that kids inevitably need. The answer is simply to get smart about what you tote and plan what you put in your purse carefully. Naturally, you must carry your own necessities - wallet, pen, phone, mints, feminine products and keys. But instead of carrying a gigantic tote bag, you can carry a manageable-sized purse with the things you might need in emergencies, for comfort or to keep the kids occupied. First, think about ways in which your cell phone might entertain the kids in traffic delays or drive-thru lines. Smartphones have tons of apps that can keep kids quiet and occupied until you can reach your destination. It can even help you get there - or help you find a clean restroom along the way! Good, old-fashioned pens and notepads are great to keep for the same purpose of entertaining the kids, plus older ones can practice their writing skills.
