Baked Swiss Steak
Prepare to "meat" your maker. This simple Swiss steak is the ultimate comfort food, and it's easy to prepare after a long day, when you need it most. A meaty meal, serve over a bed of rice or with potatoes.
Ingredients
For 5 people
- 1/2 cup(s) sifted flour
- 3 teaspoon(s) salt
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) pepper
- 32 ounce(s) round steak, 1 ½ inch thick (2 lbs)
- 1 1/2 ounce(s) fat (3 tbsp.)
- 1 small onion, minced
- 2 cup(s) tomatoes
Directions
Mix flour, salt and pepper and pound into steak with tenderizer or potato masher; brown in fat in heavy skillet. Add onions to tomatoes. Boil 5 minutes. Pour over steak. Bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours.
