Fried Mozzarella
No need to run to the store when you have the ingredients to the cheesiest most delicious finger food at your fingertips. Homemade mozzarella sticks are every bit as good as the store-bought brands. Let them cool a few minutes and serve with little cups of pizza sauce for dipping.
Ingredients
For 1 people
- 6 tablespoon(s) Vegetable oil
- 1 thick slice mozzarella cheese per serving
- 1 egg, beaten with a little water or milk
- 1/2 cup(s) flour
- 1/2 cup(s) Seasoned breadcrumbs
- 1 cup(s) Prepared tomato or marinara sauce
- 1 tablespoon(s) parsley
Directions
Pour oil into a heavy skillet about 1/2 inch deep and heat. Dip thick cheese slice into flour, then egg mixture, and breadcrumbs. Carefully place prepared cheese slices into hot oil. Let one side brown (watch because they brown quickly), then with a fork and spatula, turn and allow second side to brown. Serve immediately topped with a spoonful of heated sauce. Garnish with parsley, if desired.
