Divide the hair into small sections. Then use a comb to separate the hairs. Start at the ends and move up to the roots. You may want to invest in a detangler. There is a wide range of products with detangling components -- from mists to conditioners to shampoos. Look for detangling products that are specific to your hair type. When contending with tangles, pepper the hair with these products and run a wide-toothed comb through the knots. If hair is tangled in a scrunchie or rubber band, begin by cutting the accessory out of the hair and then working through the mess. If you are unable to work the knot out, only cut hair as a last option.
