You can also try wrapping cake in saran and freezing it. Wait until it is frozen solid and then put the frozen cake in a zip-lock bag. Depending on the kitchen temperature, some people have had success in keeping cake at room temperature for several days by simply using a piece of plastic to wrap the cake, followed by a foil wrap. This only works where the temperature is not over 75 degrees F. If the temperature exceeds this range, store the cake in the fridge instead.

To return dry, crumbling cookies to their original condition, put them on a cookie sheet, wet a thin dish towel and wring it thoroughly. Place it over the cookies and bake them for 5 minutes in a 350 degrees oven. You can also layer the cookies in a 9x13 plastic container. Place a wax paper over the first layer, then put more cookies on top. On the final layer, place another piece of wax paper and a piece of fresh bread. Cover the container and keep in a cool, dry place. Replace the bread when it turns stale or hard. Never place the fresh piece of bread directly on your cookies to prevent them from becoming very soft or mushy. If you baked the cookies yourself, cool them completely before storing them in this manner.
