Your Guide to Giving a Great Massage
Give shoulders a good knead with your fingers, adjusting pressure as needed. For a full backstroke, stand at the crown of your partner's head and place palms on the upper back, with fingers pointing to the lower back. Slowly guide your palms down the back on either side of the spine, shifting your weight to allow for appropriate pressure. A partner who spends the day working on the computer would enjoy getting the kinks worked out of his or her arms and hands. Start by squeezing the muscles in the forearm gently and use the heel of your hand to press down on the muscle. Use your thumb to press the flesh of your partner's palms - there can be a lot of tension stored in those muscles. Then take each finger gently and squeeze each knuckle and the flesh in between. Pull and wiggle fingers, taking care not to crack your partner's knuckles. The use of massage oil is up to you, but use it sparingly if you're really trying to work out those kinks - it can make your hands slip.
