To dry nails faster in between coats, have a hair dryer ready. Set it on the cool setting - never warm or hot; these settings can make polish expand and chip faster - and aim it 12 inches away from nails. Use a light color if you choose to wear something other than clear polish. Chips and smudges are much more noticeable with dark polishes, especially those black, purple and grey shades that are popular. Use two coats and dry each in between. Top it off with a clear coat to seal in color and apply cool air one more time. Plunge your fingers into icy cold water (without ice, which may smudge polish) to harden polish and pat hands dry. Take it easy for a few minutes, and you're on your way with a fresh look for your fingers.
